Do Something Great to Improve the World!

Our Story: Nurturing Innocence, Empowering Families in Los Angeles

Children's Day USA is a unique and central nonprofit organization dedicated to the celebration and support of children and young families. Our goal is to support local organizations in organizing Children's Day events by raising money and providing them with resources, all while promoting the virtues of good citizenship and education.

The journey of Children's Day USA began in 1995 in Long Beach, California, and has since grown to encompass cities across the nation, including New Zealand, Carson, San Diego, and more. Our core belief is in celebrating children and their families through a special event held on the last Saturday in April. Over the years, we've expanded our vision and scope, drawing inspiration from the success of Children's Day celebrations in New Zealand.

Our overarching goal is to replicate the success of Children's Day celebrations that have taken place worldwide, with a particular focus on the United States. We operate as a central national nonprofit (Children's Day USA is a 501c3) that actively supports local groups in their efforts to host these events. Our guiding principle is simple yet powerful: "What are you going to do to make the world a better place?"

We offer a range of services to fulfill our mission, including event planning, an Education and Good Citizenship Project, and the Do The Right Thing/Children's Day USA Business Council. We provide guidance and resources to local groups, empower students to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges, and unite businesses to support low-income families, offer internships, and foster community growth.

We are always here to help. For inquiries, please contact us at (562) 741-7724 or via email at jimoberst@gmail.com. At Children's Day USA, we firmly believe in the importance of protecting the innocence of children and empowering families. Join us in our mission to make the world a better place for the next generation.

Our Impact: Fostering a Safer, Happier Tomorrow

Our impact extends far beyond the scope of a single event or initiative. We are a driving force for positive change in the lives of children and young families. Through our various programs and collaborations, we've witnessed communities coming together, students discovering their potential, and businesses embracing their role as stewards of social responsibility.

One of our proudest achievements is the Education and Good Citizenship Project, where students learn to apply their knowledge to real-world problems. The ripple effect of these lessons goes well beyond the classroom, as students become empowered advocates for change in their communities. We've seen neighborhoods transformed and young minds awakened to the possibilities of creating a brighter future.

Our Do The Right Thing/Children's Day The USA Business Council is another testament to the impact of collective action. Businesses, both large and small, have joined forces to uplift low-income families, offer internships to students, and drive local economic growth. This collaborative spirit has translated into tangible improvements in the lives of countless families across the nation.

The heart of our mission is the celebration of children and their families. Our Children's Day events, inspired by the successes of celebrations worldwide, have brought smiles, laughter, and cherished memories to countless young faces. It's a reminder that simple acts of celebration can make a world of difference in a child's life.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to our core principle of making the world a better place for the next generation. Our journey continues, fueled by the unwavering belief that by working together, we can shape a brighter, more compassionate future for children and families everywhere.

Our Vision: Inspiring Change, One Child at a Time

Our goal of creating an inclusive, compassionate, and empowered society serves as the direction for Children's Day USA going forward. We envision a future where the celebration of children extends beyond a single day, becoming a year-round commitment to their well-being and growth.

Our dedication to education, good citizenship, and community empowerment remains unwavering. We strive to expand our reach, touching more lives and inspiring positive change on a broader scale. By nurturing young talent, fostering ethical business practices, and supporting families in need, we aim to create a world where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

We look forward to further strengthening our ties with communities, educators, businesses, and families. Together, we can build a legacy of kindness, education, and empowerment that will endure for generations to come. Our journey is one of hope and determination, driven by the belief that by doing the right thing, we can shape a brighter future for all children, today and tomorrow.

Summer Hansen

Founder & Visionary

Summer Love Hansen believed that every child deserved to feel seen, heard, and supported. In 1995, she brought this belief to life by founding Children's Day USA, working tirelessly to uplift young people and families throughout Long Beach and beyond. Summer's warmth welcomed everyone - her community events were filled with laughter, learning, and moments of hope. Her handshakes often led to lasting partnerships, and her determination sparked a movement that went far beyond a single festival. For three decades, Summer's commitment fueled programs in mentorship, scholarships, and business development, uniquely combining family celebration with real opportunities for growth. Even after her passing, her legacy lives on through every child who receives support, every award given to local champions, and each partnership created to fight poverty. Summer's vision continues to guide every step, reminding us that building a better world for our children begins with commitment, compassion, and coming together. Supporting Children's Day USA is a way to keep her spirit alive and strengthen the future she dreamed for our community.
